This weekend's Trifextra concerns this lovely quote:   “It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” ― Paulo CoelhoAlchemist

Whoosh! Whoosh!  Whoosh!

The doctor points to a tiny, pulsating area
The heart.

To my wife,
a look of love

To me,
a look returned,
I have to pee like ten thousand elephants!

Not making any announcements here, folks!   Simply creating a post for anyone who has sat there, slack-jawed, as you went for your first ultrasound and saw/heard your new baby for the first time.  Well, at least I was slack-jawed.  My wife, Keri, didn't fully enjoy and appreciate the miracle of life until after getting to go to the bathroom following the end of the ultrasound. :)   Happy weekend everyone!

  1. He he...Aw... You got my vote. So sweet. Love the humor at the end, love this: "I have to pee like ten thousand elephants!" Ha. Really, so nice. This is one of my favorites so far. You definitely have my vote for sure. :)

    1. Thank you very much. Glad you liked it. I will never forget having our dream of having a baby coming true, right there on the ultrasound screen, but having absolutely no idea how miserable my wife was with her bursting bladder. The memory is a sweet one for me but, the relief afterward, is what my wife remembers most. :)

  2. Love this Tom! And yep, I remember that special torture of cold gel pressing down on a full bladder... Totally worth the end result, of course! Great capture of that moment from both sides!

    1. I was all agog, for sure! Keri was all in agony, for sure! The moment unfolded and the magic was there but, more for one of us than the other, as it turned out. But, like you said, the end result was worth everything we had gone through to get to that point, including a full bladder during the ultrasound. :)

  4. Well as a token of appreciation for your kind response to my entry, allow me to do the same in return an say that this was a tremendous 33 words!! To picture 1000 elephants peeing at once is an image I shan't ever forget!

    1. Thanks, Leonard. It was an unforgettable moment, in many respects. It was certainly a dream come true, after a few years of unsuccessful attempts. Easy for me to say that a full-to-bursting bladder was worth it but, I think I'm relatively safe in saying that it was. :) Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments very much.

  7. I've lived this thousands of times over (without having that many babies myself)...and it never, ever gets old. :) beautifully (and practically) told.

  8. Thanks, Jody. Life is a miracle. Glad I got to experience that moment. But, in doing so, it was the real start of my appreciation for all that Keri would go through during the pregnancy. While I was enjoying the wonder of it all, she was enduring the practical realities of it all. Different points of view for the miracle of life, for sure. I am very pleased to have my experience the way it unfolded. I have lots of respect for what all women go through when pregnant, let alone, after the birth.

  12. Oh Tom!!! I loved this and I remember it very much. I remember a lot about that day (mostly that I thought we were there to have them tell me that I was pregnant but there was no baby...instead there were TWO)

that whoosh, whoosh is such an amazing sound, I had them turn it up and leave me laying there...I almost forgot about how much I had to pee. (All kidding aside, I had a harder time with our "practice implantation" and the actual Transfer of the embryos, they even made me drink more water to get my bladder full for that...and it was torture)

this brought me to happy wet eyes. :)

hope you had a great weekend

  13. If I would have had more words to work with, my actually opening was going to be, "Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Not the Thump, thump, thump I was expecting." I expected a beating heart, not the coursing of blood. That was the beginning of my realization that this was, indeed, something very different and miraculous that we were dealing with. I love that Whoosh, whoosh sound. For me, it symbolizes life. <3
