Love is the Always the Answer.

This weekend's Trifextra challenge concerns the inclusion of an idiom somewhere within the 33 words we are to use in our piece.

I have decided to dip my toes in the political waters of my neighbour, the United States.  The Defence of Marriage Act is presently being discussed by the United States Supreme Court.  Many people have many views on the topic of marriage depending upon their religious and/or political background.  My view is that I don't care where people get their politics or their doctrines.  If your views make you feel good inside then, I will be happy for you.  If your views allow you to reach out to others in the name of brotherhood and charity then, I will respect your actions.  When it comes to much of how I view life, there is nothing more important to me than goodness, kindness and generosity of spirit. These things that I hold dear all spring from that most precious and special of things:  Love.

I hope that the Supreme Court Justices, in their wisdom, render a decision that makes a positive, generation-defining difference in that most love-oriented of institutions.....Marriage.

Good luck to all.

Love is Always the Answer

Marriage.
Two hearts beating as one.
Is the Defense of Marriage Act,
a road map or road block?
Let the final verdict be,
as it always should,
built upon a foundation
of Love.

    1. I am sure someone will have something to say, regardless of I dressed up my opinion. However, at the end of the day, there is nothing ambiguous about my stand; legalizing discrimination didn't work in Brown vs the Board of Education and it won't work here, either. Hopefully, the Court believes that Love and equality are the answer, too.

  2. I like your opinion on this because it's a good one that can be shared (or should be shared) by everyone no matter their views. Of course I hope to see the rights of marriage be granted to everyone, so I hope the SCOTUS makes the right decision to allow that to happen.

  3. Love conquers all, even the Supreme Court. Hate has no place in this world, and should die withering in the brightness of Love.

    This made me smile!

    1. Awesome comment! Completely agree. Fingers crossed that those nine judges agree with us.

  4. I actually thinks it's a legal point unfortunately. Marriage rights are more about divorce, and death do us part etc.
And therefore anyone should have society protect the rights of a shared economy.
But a good use of 33 words

    1. Obviously, there are legal aspects but, the way it is all playing out in the media is all religion and politics. Depending on one's pov, the DOMA is upholding the biblically-sanctified definition of marriage or else, it is standing in the way of equal rights for all. Many people have extreme positions and the rhetoric ramps up accordingly. My stand is simple: a society, any society, that legalizes discrimination against members of its' own people is a society on the wrong path. I believe in Love being the foundation of all that is good in the world and, as such, it should be legally available to all. There you go. Thanks for your input, Bjorn. :)

  5. Yep, this is a complicated issue. Love...marriage...politics. The justices are a reflection of us, here in the U.S. May they be what they should, wise deciders.

  7. Yes, this is a complicated issue. So glad I'm not part of the Supreme Court, charged with sorting it out. Love should be the basis in our interactions with others.

  10. Very diplomatically said. The groundswell of support for gay marriage is surprising. I think so many people avoid the argument and have sympathized with gays. I sincerely hope they get their due.

  11. I agree with Ann - very diplomatically said. Love is the only answer any opposition is based solely on hatred...

    1. I enjoy being on the right side of History when it comes to these sorts of matters. I believe that I am here. If public opinion is to be viewed as any sort of reliable barometer, I am evidently not alone in my thinking. Thank you very much for stopping by and adding your voice to the chorus for equality, dignity and freedom of choice.
