Champions of a Simpler time

This weekend's Trifextra challenge is to write about a trio of some sort.  I have chosen the Hall of Fame baseball trio of Tinker, Evers and Chance.  Life seemed simpler then and these three guys were symbolic of much of what made that era so nostalgic in the minds of many.  Please enjoy.  :)

Champions of a Simpler Time

Sepia-toned visions of a nation's dream.
Legends borne
Defending diamonds of green.

Built upon a foundation
of rawhide, leather and ash.

All hail these most comforting of heroes,
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."

  1. Very comforting, like the best of memories.

  2. These memories are a little bit far from me... but I guess they would correspond to Gre-No-Li here in Sweden....

    1. The Kings of Swedish football would be an appropriate comparison for Tinker, Evers and Chance. A Trifecta of national sports heroes. My Swedish sports hero worship begins and ends with Borje Salming. He helped transform hockey in Canada and was, easily, the best player my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club has ever had play for them. Sweden has a lot of great athletes to be proud of. Thanks for introducing me to three gentlemen I had not heard of before.

  3. Glad to have made the cut before the deadline. Haven't written since the school year began on Sept. 3rd. Forced myself to cobble something, anything, together. Felt good to write again. Thanks for your supportive and generous comments, as always.
