On Being A Parent

Trifecta has asked us to compose a 33-word non-fiction poem or story.  Well, here is a story that I am sure many of you, who are parents yet, who still strive to mantain the romance of being a couple, can appreciate. Enjoy!

On Being A Parent

Sandwiched between our naked, glistening, panting bodies
lays the sleepy body
of our tiny daughter
who crawled into our bed,
unaware
that the scary noises she was awakened by
were definitely not monsters!

  4. The child in question is pictured above and in my thumbnail photo, too. She is much loved, even if she hasn't learned how to knock first, before entering a room. :)

  10. Oh dear. Locks. Lots and lots of locks. Also: cowbell on her door so you hear her coming. Also: mines and trapdoors along the way. :-)

  12. Thanks to everyone for your comments. I'm glad this little incident brightened your day. And, just in case you are wondering:

1- We did not "continue" while she slept.
2- We did not tiptoe to her room and "continue"
3- We did not sleep in the nude with her in the bed, either.
4- The winning answer is, we looked at each, had a brief chuckle together and then a tender kiss. I found my underwear and t-shirt and gently carried my daughter back to her bed and stayed there awhile with her until she went fully back to sleep. Then I went back to my wife and my bed and had very....satisfying..........sleep.
My life is full of love and tender moments. I am truly blessed. But, every now and again, a little bit of romance is good for the old soul, too. :)
