Dreamscape's Realm

This is my second crack at completing the Trifextra weekend writing challenge.  I thought I was finished when I linked up with my cheeky, smart-alecky entry, which you can view here.  However, the entry never really sat well with me and I have regretted writing it and linking up with it.  My nagging feeling was confirmed this morning when I was on Twitter and saw the excellent entry written on the blog called, Polysyllabicprofundities.   This entry showed me what was possible with this challenge.  Having the author's son read her own poetry was mind-blowing. Needless to say, it made my own entry seem small and a wasted opportunity to create something special, too.
Everything I write should be something I feel proud to share with anyone who reads it; especially my family.

So, in order to create something that my girls can be proud of, I have created a new post.  Needless to say, I am disqualifying myself from the challenge but, hopefully, and more importantly, I believe that this better reflects how I feel about bedtime, my daughters and me, as a writer.  Enjoy.

Dreamscape's Realm

Cocooned in blankets of moonlight
and starry twinkles,
a gentle kiss is proffered
from Daddy
to you.

My kiss
is my Love;
My shield to protect you
As you frolic in Dreamscape's realm.

  1. I love the first line, cocooned in blankets of moonlight. The entire piece is very sweet and enduring. This ranks up there with the book "Butterfly Kisses". Very protective, using your kiss of love as a shield.

  4. That's just lovely. Thanks for linking up. Just one note--it was my son reading some Trifextra entries that I randomly chose. :-) He loved them.

  6. I liked the first one too, where she was so exhausted she just passed out in the hallway (that's real and wonderful...it's exactly how our children act)

    but this one was just as dreamy and magical. I like to think those kisses do protect them from everything which is why I am often found kissing FACES and hair, ears, tummies and even toes sometimes before bedtime.

    *sigh*
