There Was a Scream!
Lightning flashed. Rain fell in sheets. Power failed.
There was a scream!
Reached out. Touched something soft and round.
There was a scream!
Power restored. Hands on Grandma's chest.
There was a scream!
When I was a boy, we would go to the country and visit with my Grandmother. When we would arrive, my Grandma would greet us with a big smile, arms opened wide and plenty of hugs and kisses to go around. Not that I needed encouragement but, my mother would often exhort me to "go and give your Grandmother a little squeeze." I doubt she was envisioning what happened in my post but, well, there you go.
Hahaha! Oh dear. I wonder who screamed louder?
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great summer break!
Thanks, Suzanne, for your comment and your wish. I appreciate both.
DeleteI liked how you worked the tepititiin into the starry and not at the end. Poor granny! :)
ReplyDeletePoor Granny? Poor kid! :) Thanks, Lumdog!
DeleteHahahahah I love this! I wondered who screamed the last time?
ReplyDeleteShould be both. Could be either. That ambiguity was what I was going for. :)
DeletePoor grandma, and poor traumatized kid. So funny!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it. Initially, I was going to go the serious route but, being so punchy from the hectic end to the year, I thought a laugh was the better route to follow.
DeleteBwahaha. That would be cause for a scream.
ReplyDeleteGlad I put a smile on your face, Tracie. :)
Deletehahahahaha . . . all of my grands, when babes, had a predilection for reaching down and checking out my equipment. It was funny then . . . likely scream worthy from both sides now. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked this post. I just semi-apologized for it on your blog. Lol. :)
DeleteI pictured my own grandma when I read this! Oh heavens! I don't think she'd ever recover from something like that;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great summer break too!
Thank you, Valerie. :)
DeleteHahaha! Too funny, Cobbie. Thanks for linking up. Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteYou, too, Trifecta! You, too! :)

The power of hanging out with 5th graders you are using well, young Skywalker! snicker! that was fantabulous!!!!
ReplyDeletehilarious!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jeez! Are you going through my back catalogue, my dear? Glad that you liked this one. I had had a really busy six weeks or so at the end of the school year and had gotten away from writing for pleasure during that time. This was one of the first challenges I entered as the schoolyear wound down. I needed a laugh at that point in time and so, you get Granny getting felt up! :)
