The Trifextra challenge this weekend is to write a story or poem based upon the structure of our planet with a core, molten middle and a crusty exterior. I immediately thought of hard cover books and came up with the following. Hope you like it. Happy New Year everyone!
Read a Good Book Lately?
Between the covers of any great book;
the molten passion of the author's heart,
the explosive force of an original idea,
creating mountains of thought,
lighting the darkness,
the landscape reborn
by books.
That is a remarkable idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe. I appreciate your comment. :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you used the prompt to refer to books. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joe! It's interesting to see where our minds lead us when faced with imagery.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tara and Corinne. I am thankful for your comments.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea...such an original take on the prompt!

ReplyDeleteyes, indeedy. I get pretty immersed into whatever I am reading. Then I take a step back as I close the final page - take a deep cleansing breath - and go on to the next in line. :) Love this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara. There's just something about reading a good book, eh? I appreciate the time you took to offer me a comment.
DeleteLovely, and working hard to be just that kind of author. Can't beat a good book.

Thanks, Donna. I'd love to be that kind of author, too. For now, the odd moment of competence is all I can hope for but, one day.................:)
DeleteLove your take on the prompt! Beautiful choice of words - perfect imagery to describe the experience of reading a great book.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. So happy you enjoyed my work. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect idea! You hit a sweet spot with me. There aren't a lot if things I love more than books. Well, my family, but...
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! :)
ReplyDeleteBooks were another idea of mine, although I was going for the whole "carved out section to hide stuff" idea. I didn't think I could do it in 33 words. You did something better in 33 words than I could! (:
ReplyDeleteThanks, my friend. This has been a fun challenge.
DeleteLandscape reborn by books - Perfect.
ReplyDeleteHome run! :D
ReplyDeleteI like the thought of books painted like shapes of landscapes--very interesting take!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly, Linda and Sandra! Glad you got what I was going for with this poem. It was fun to create.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love this: "the explosive force of an original idea." And as a bookworm myself (aren't we all, though?), your piece is something I can totally relate to.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Your words mean a lot. I am glad that you enjoyed this piece so much.
